Backer Rod
We distribute several types of closed-cell and open-cell backer rods. These include:

  • Sof-Rod backer road is a flexible, polyolefin foam rod made of a non-absorbing outer skin and a resilient interior network of both open and closed cells that does not out-gas when ruptured. It is type B per ASTM C 1330- made of bi-cellular material.  Can be used as a gasket or seal for ASTM C 717
  • HBR is a fully closed cell polyethylene, non-gassing backer rod.  It is type C under ASTM C 1330.
  • HBR-XL is a cross-linked, closed cell polyethylene backer rod for hot sealants
  • Foam Pak II is a non-gassing, chemically inert open-cell polyurethane backer rod used when applying elastomeric sealants. It is type O for ASTM C 1330.
  • Foam Control Joint – HBR® Foam Control Joint is a flexible polyethylene foam with a 1/2″ score on the top. It is used in various concrete applications to control surface cracking where an expansion joint is required. After the surface of the slab is finished, the top 1/2″ portion can be separated and removed creating a 1/2″ void at the surface of the slab for a variety of sealants.
  • HBR® Foam Expansion Joint is a flexible polyethylene foam. It is used in various concrete applications to control surface cracking where an expansion joint is required.
  • Flat Rod is a flexible polyethylene foam. It is used in various concrete applications to control surface cracking where an expansion joint is required. It can also be used as a backing material for use with sealants.
